Description
Maya Angelou’s autobiograhical “I know why the caged bird sings” was published in 1969 and I used images from Random House’s first edition along with a quote from the book to create this zinc-framed stained glass hanging with a beautiful wispy amber glass.
This is a one-off picture, with a hand painted quote on beautiful ivory glass. It’s ready to hang with sturdy hand-made hanging loops embedded in the frame. It would look stunning at a window, but it can also be hung indoors to emphasise the opaque black glass.
In February 2025 it was exhibited at the House of Smalls, Edinburgh in their Childhood, Interrupted exhibition.
It’s just larger than A4 size.
