KayBee Glass

I make stained glass portraits of notable women for homes, exhibitions, galleries and businesses.

What you display in your space can do more than look beautiful; it can also reflect your values.

My stained glass portraits feature contemporary or historical women who have changed our world through activism, art or science. They make meaningful milestone gifts or statement pieces.

What can I help with?

Stained glass portraits

Commission a stained glass portrait for a milestone event, or for your home, business or gallery. Get in touch to discuss your idea.

Classes

I am a stained glass tutor with Edinburgh Council's Adult Education Department. Evening classes for beginners in central Edinburgh run over 5, 8, 10 or 14 weeks depending on the time of year. All materials and equipment is provided and you don't have to be artistic to produce something beautiful!

Stained glass gifts

I hand make an ever-changing range of small stained glass gifts - feathers, hearts, small glass paintings and fused glass jewellery. Take a look at my shop page or get in touch if you are looking for something in particular.

Markets

You'll find me at Edinburgh's Grassmarket Market (Saturday) and Stockbridge Market (Sunday) on the second weekend of the month. I usually bring along free scrap glass for mosaic artists as well as a selection of beautiful stained glass gifts and portraits..

Artist for @mortalandstrong

I am honoured to have been chosen as an artist for the Mortal and Strong charity (No. 1209448) for people with life changing/incurable health conditions. Scars of Gold The Event is a National campaign and art exhibition sharing the Voices of 100 people with lived experience of life changing/incurable conditions.

The event will exhibit 100 artworks by established and emerging artists, representing the 100 Voices who have shared their experience of life changing and incurable health conditions.

Who am I?

I'm Karen, the artist behind KayBee Glass. I live a few miles south of Edinburgh, near the beautiful Scottish Borders. I draw and design everything I make myself. I use the copper foil (Tiffany) technique, which allows me to include delicate lines and shapes. This may or may not be related to my dislike of following rules and patterns! Sometimes I paint on glass, sometimes I include fused glass or other adornments.

I taught myself to make stained glass, so I've made all of the mistakes...!! I'm still learning after four years. I love to do stained glass portraits, so if you are planning a special present why not get in touch and see if I can create something amazing.
