This Stained Glass Window Art is inspired by the eruption of the Fagradalsfjall volcano in the South West of Iceland, not far from Reykjavik which brought attention to the island once again. This time there seems to be no risk to life and no disruption to flights. They say the eruption may last for several years so hopefully I will be able to visit again and view the spectacle.
This representation of the volcano is a mixture of opaque purples, blues and greens with translucent orange ‘lava’ flowing around the landscape.
It’s 26 x 17 cm and ready to hang at a window with two hooks at the back. It’s got a partial frame on both sides.
This hasn’t been created from a template, it started life as a pencil drawing and was built up with individual pieces of glass using the tiffany technique. It’s a one-off and even if I wanted to I couldn’t recreate it!
