Description
A hand-made, unique fused glass picture with bees, flowers, hearts and a gorgeous tree with iridescent trunk detail.
How was it made?
The flowers, grass, bees, leaves, hearts and tree were carefully placed by hand using murrine and frit. The process of making murrine is fascinating. This 2008 video shows how it’s done Murrine making; Corning Museum of Glass.
The bottom half is made of stunning, hand-rolled Bullseye red Mardi Gras collage glass, and this particular glass is no longer available in the UK.
The piece was fused twice, and spent 28 hours in the kiln being carefully heated and cooled at just the right temperature.
How would I display it?
This is a one-off piece and would make a wonderful special occasion gift. It can be displayed on a windowsill and it would look equally good away from natural light – you can see how it changes in the photographs, depending where it’s placed. There is an option to buy the display stand shown in the photographs or you can source your own.
